This is a tragic and bizarre story: A kind - hearted and timid woman is forced to commit a crime - killing her own baby. Eventually, she succumbs to the dual torments of mental and physical pain and passes away... Since its publication, the novella The Sin by the renowned Egyptian writer Youssef Idriss has drawn the attention of readers and the critical community with its touching plot and realistic portrayal of the lives of Egyptian women. It has been reprinted several times in a short period, adapted into a film, and translated into English, French, Russian, etc., bringing international fame to the author.
Youssef Idriss is known for his in - depth and meticulous exploration of characters' inner worlds. The characters in his works are often kind - natured and gentle, harboring somewhat naive ideas about the real world that conflicts with them. However, in the face of the outcome of such conflicts, they often exhibit unexpected qualities. Aziza, the heroine of The Sin , is such a character. She cherishes simple hopes, expecting to escape the punishment of fate by chance. But for her, the torment brought by the fear of unemployment is no less than the inner pain after being raped. After a long and arduous struggle, she finally does something even she didn't anticipate, becoming a victim of the cruel reality.

He served as a member of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Literature and Arts, a member of the Novella Club, and a member of the Egyptian Writers' Association.
